We LOVE cake. We especially LOVE wedding cake. You may not have given your choice of wedding cake much thought thus far but do not underestimate the importance of a wedding cake in creating a major statement on your big day. If you want your wedding to stand out, your cake has to! These days you are spoilt for choice with Instagram, Pinterest and bridal sites providing inspiration and an abundant of luxury cake bakers available to recreate your favourite choices. Quite like your bridal gown, your cake should be a central focus of the day and feature prominently in your wedding pictures. So, just like your dress it has to be perfect and leave your guests in absolute awe. It also needs to taste nice. Wedding cakes are not cheap and you do not want to spend lots of money on a cake that leaves a bad taste in your guests’ mouths. We have put together a few images of some of our favourite statement cake designs/displays. High Tiers: If you are trying to make a statement, go tall! The average wedding cake has just three tiers. If you want to make your cake stand out why not double or triple the number of tiers you have?
Elaborate designs: If you don’t want to go tall, then why not go for an elaborate design. The detail of the cake is sure to turn heads.
Light it up: Creative lighting can be very effective in enhancing the wow factor of event the simplest of cakes.
Suspended Cake: One of the most spectacular current wedding trends that we are in absolute awe of, is the suspended wedding cake. Your cake is floating in all of it’s glory surrounded by decadent lighting and sumptuous decor! You cannot really make a bigger statement than this.
A few other things to consider when deciding on your dream cake: Flavours: Who says your wedding cake has to be a traditional plain sponge? Who said it has to be all one flavour? After all whatever the flavour someone is bound to not like it. Why not mix and match flavours dependent on tiers? Our last wedding had a fruit cake base, red velvet tier, rum sponge tier and chocolate cake top tier. Out of of all those flavours, even the fussiest guest is bound to find something they like. Or why not do something even more unusual like rum & raisin, Go quirky! Whilst we love wedding cake we also love other sweet treats too. How about a tiered baked cheesecake? Cupcake tower? Macaroon pyramid? There are a myriad of options available for individuals who want to do something a little bit different. Remember, whatever you choose to ensure it is decorated and displayed to a high standard.
